Jacinta di Mase Management is thrilled to welcome author Lora Inak to our ranks!

Born during a period of civil unrest in Turkiye, Lora Inak and her family immigrated to Australia to find a safer place to call home. Growing up an immigrant in the 1980/90s wasn’t always easy, and so Lora found solace in stories – first in reading them and then eventually in writing her own.

Lora’s first Young Adult fiction title Unspoken Rules was published in 2017, and her short-story memoir One of A Kind, featured in the PanMacmillan collection Arab, Australian, Other: Stories on Race and Identity edited by Randa Abdel-Fattah and Sara Saleh, in 2019. Both stories have strong themes of culture, cultural conflict, family, love, and loss – themes close to Lora’s heart.

On joining the agency, Lora says; “I’m still pinching myself! To be a part of the incredible list of writers, illustrators, and artists represented by the amazing Jacinta di Mase Agency is a dream come true – and the icing on the cake; working with the very savvy and super talented Danielle Binks, who I have admired for years. Oceans of gratitude.”

Lora and agent Danielle Binks are preparing to pitch a contemporary junior-fiction series set at the fictional Glenwood English Language School and featuring a group of migrant and refugee schoolchildren who are new to Australia; learning the language, cultures and customs – as well as sharing their own. Binks describes it as; “Danny Katz and Mitch Vane’s Little Lunch books – which was also a much loved ABC TV series! – meets Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson! I love it, particularly that it’s so inspired by Lora’s own childhood in multicultural Australia.”
